We're Calling on Our Men of Color to Share Their Vulnerable Truths!
Simply being a person of color in America today is stressful, to say the least—and subjects an individual to a number of psychosocial risks in addition to "normal" life stressors like work, finances, and health.
Many of us have experienced or suffered from some form of anxiety, depression, or life trauma (whether big or small) that has informed, shaped, or dictated (in the worst cases) our actions and outcomes in life.
It isn't until we learn ourselves intimately enough to recognize our flaws and imperfections, and we love ourselves unapologetically that we can begin to peel away the ego, biases, and defenses. Then we can truly align our inner selves with the actions and results we desire from the external world.
To that, we offer the spirit of receptivity and lean into shared vulnerability because we know in our hearts that there is power in voice, that no man is an island, and that it takes a village.
I know I am at my best when I've given myself permission to feel and acknowledge my most honest emotions. For the individual, we give you the opportunity to feel it, own it, and release it while we as the community learn from, embrace, and love you for it unequivocally.
By replacing assumptions and expectations with mindfulness, building empathy, and practicing a little vulnerability we encourage the neuroelasticity needed to create large and impactful change over time. The best part is that we can ALL exercise these muscles.
Be well and may the life you want to live be fully yours.
Blessings and Respect,
Denzel
